VERGE by LOUEM

Sorry I have been completely AWOL these past few months as I have been super busy finishing all my work off for my degree....anyway I am finally done and dusted and below I have posted some photos of the results!

At the bottom of the page I will post my concept behind the project and the work I have made.

My collection title was names 'VERGE' and I chose to create it for A/W '11. The concept behind my collection ; To take the something which is usually perceived as something unattractive or 'ugly', and to turn it into something beautiful. I started to look at rust, decay and decomposing. On the flip side I also looked at mechanical objects which then transformed into metallics as I liked the glamour of the shine.

 You can see in my garments that I contrasted the two by choosing the fabrics, colour pallette and techniques that I used. I also had alot of influence by the brand 'All Saints' and wanted to create some aspects of their style in my work.

In my two Degree shows I styled my models to fit my concept and theme. Above are some pictures from various shows. I yet have a photoshoot to do, but once completed I will post the photos on here.

Digital Draping

Just a little something I thought you might find interesting.....

A few weeks ago at Uni we tried some digital draping with images we liked, we projected them onto a large screen and placed a mannequin in the middle....we tested with different images and moved the mannquin around to achieve different effects.

Here's some of my work :)

The ones below are examples of me draping fabric on the mannequin to get ideas and then I projected them using digital draping

As it was my birthday last week I am going to be doing my first Haul tomorrow, of the presents I got and the things which I brought so I hope you like it!

Acid Rain

Whether it be in season or not, one technique I always adore is ''Acid wash''!

There is a thin line between Acid wash working.......and not.

I found a few images where I think the technique works really nicely within the outfits!

This image is particularly my favourite as this style of acid wash i prefer above the tie dye/ splattered effect

I love the outfit on the left!!

some are more bold than other but you can liven up/ tone down acid wash as much as you wish..... with practice :)

Pure London 2011

Sorry for being M.I.A recently...I have been super busy with uni :(

Anyway I am back! and I attended the fabulous Pure London trade event yesterday which took place in London's Earls Court and Kensington Olympia....

It was a really fun day and there are some amazingly new and fresh ideas for 2011 so watch out!

I also went to Pure London at Kensington Olympia and was just in time for the WGSN fashion show  ( sorry about the quality of the photos, I couldn't get the right setting on my camera  : / )
